OUGD502 - Collaboration

Collaboration will have play a significant part in graphic design work after uni so getting an understanding of how it works at this stage of my practice can be helpful. I have had the opportunity to work with a student from fashion communication and a students from photography. I wanted to respond to this as a one day brief to practice producing an outcome quickly but still going through each appropriate stage of the design process.

Photographer, Anisa Cleaver was given this brief and asked to interpret it in her own way. She focused on the polka dotted work of Yayoi Kusama and Erwin Blumenfeld's experimental work in the dark room.

After first collaborating with fashion communication student Tara Pertwee to create a series of unique images, the project was left to me to place the images in an intriguing editorial layout similar to that of fashion magazine, Stylist.

I looked into other fashion editorials as research as well as other interesting design that would be useful for the brief. This can be seen below.

There are a number of things I feel could be improved such as removing orphans, changing the weight and style of some fonts and bringing more text into the layout however, I think the final publication has worked well as a one day brief. The editorial will be printed on recycled paper at size A4 similar to that of Stylist Magazine.
